Your QR Code Isn’t the Goal - The Landing Page Is.
Let’s clear something up right now...
Your QR code is not impressive.
It’s not special.
And by itself - it does absolutely nothing.
It’s just a doorway.
And if what’s behind that door sucks…
then the scan was a complete waste of time for your new potential fan.
🚫 The Problem Most Artists Don’t See
A lot of musicians think:
“As long as I have a QR code, I’m good.”
No. You’re not.
Because what actually matters is what happens after the scan.
And this is where most artists completely drop the ball.
📉 The Typical Experience (And Why It Fails)
Let’s walk through what your fan actually sees:
They scan your code.
Now they’re staring at:
* A messy link tree
* 12 random buttons
* No clear direction
* No personality
* No reason to click anything
It feels like work.
So they don’t do anything.
Scan wasted.
🧠 Here’s the Truth
People don’t want options.
They want clarity.
When you give someone too many choices, you’re not helping them…
You’re overwhelming them.
And overwhelmed people do one thing really well:
Nothing.
⚡ Your Landing Page Has One Job...
Not ten.
Not five.
One.
Turn interest into action—immediately.
That’s it.
If your page doesn’t guide the fan to do something right now…
It’s broken.
✅ What Actually Works
When someone lands on your page, it should be obvious - instantly - what they can do.
Not hidden. Not buried. Not cluttered.
Just clean, simple, and intentional.
For example:
* 👍 Follow me
* 💵 Tip me
* 🎵 Request a song
* 📬 Join my email list
That’s it.
You don’t always need 15 links.
You need at least 4–5 strong ones that actually matter,
At the top your landing page.
🎯 This Is About Conversion, Not Decoration...
Your landing page is not a scrapbook.
It’s not your entire digital life dumped into one place.
It’s a conversion tool.
Every button should have a purpose.
Every option should lead somewhere meaningful.
If it doesn’t?
It shouldn’t be there.
🤦♂️ The Ego Trap
Here’s where I’m going to be blunt.
A lot of artists build landing pages for themselves…
Not for their fans.
They load it up with:
* Every platform they’ve ever joined
* Every random link
* Every “look at me” element
Meanwhile, the fan is just trying to figure out:
“How do I follow this person or throw them 10 bucks?”
Don’t make them dig.
💡 Think Like a Fan (Not an Artist)
Your fan is:
* Busy
* Distracted
* Half-paying attention
* Probably holding a drink
They are not there to explore your digital ecosystem.
They are there to take one quick action.
So design for that.
🔥 The Bottom Line
Your QR code gets the scan.
Your landing page decides what happens next.
And if your landing page is cluttered, confusing, or slow…
You didn’t gain a fan.
You lost one.
